Beaching a boat properly

***RK's Tip Tuesday's*** It's been awhile but I went to Pineview Reservoir this weekend, and was inspired so today's tip is if your going to beach your boat and enjoy relaxing on the beach. It is a better choice to back up to the beach, that way if the wind picks up, the back end of your boat won't be crashing into objects around you, the nose of the boat is designed to cut thru the waves better then the back make sure to throw an anchor down on the front end. If you do back in to the beach you also need to be aware of not getting to close to shore or you risk ruining your out drive & prop which can be very costly. Another good reason is when you pull in you risk water being pushed by the waves thru the exhaust and into the engines cylinders causing what is called a "hydrolock" unless you know what your doing to resolve this problem you will have to be towed in, leaving you with a service repair bill. Also backing in saves the hull of your boat from being drug thru the sand and rocks causing damage which is also costly to fix, its worth wading out a little to the boat. Happy boating http://rkmarine.wix.com/rkmarine
