***RK's Tip Tuesday's***

Before hitting the water each year you should have the impeller checked on your boat. This is what draws water from the lake into your engine to keep it running cool, if this should fail on you, it could cause hundreds to thousands of dollars worth of damage, and certainly ruin your trip. Most impellers need to be changed every year or every other year depending on the style, it's a good thing to check with your mechanic to make sure it is checked out properly. To avoid failure during the season NEVER run your boat out of water and if possible avoid very sandy or shallow waters. An impeller is made of rubber, sand and debris going thru this area will destroy the fins and lead to failure. Bodies of water that have ----- mussels can also cause problems with your impeller. Always pay attention to your temperature gauge, if your boat is running over 270 degrees you should have it checked out ASAP. Stay cool out there.

Happy boating
